American Printing Co. awarded Gold in 14th North American Printers of the Year competition for second consecutive year
BIRMINGHAM, AL – On June 7, 2011 American Printing Co. (APC) was one of 10 Gold Award winners named at the 14th North American Printers of the Year held by Sappi Fine Paper North America. APC was awarded the Gold in the Magazines-Sheetfed category for MACO magazine, published by Toute Bagai Publishing in Trinidad, West Indies for the second consecutive year.
APC is a family-owned and operated commercial printer based in Birmingham, Alabama, which offers high quality sheetfed and heat-set web printing as well as a full suite of bindery and mailing services. Bo Stanford, President and CEO of APC said, “I am delighted American Printing has again been named a Gold Award Winner in the Printers of the Year competition. It is a testament to our commitment to quality.”
Sappi’s Printers of the Year awards competition recognizes print excellence and innovation produced on Sappi papers within the following categories of work: Annual Reports, Books, Brochures, Calendars, Catalogs, Digital, General Print, Magazines and Printer’s Own Promotions. All entries were judged by a panel of highly regarded print professionals on the overall impact of the piece, degree of difficulty in the printing techniques and technical excellence. APC was recognized earlier this year in the same competition by winning the three Bronze Awards. They are the Medical Properties Trust Annual Report, Hodges and Associates in the Annual Reports category, Provost 2011 calendar, Professional Systems in the Calendar category and the Sandals Style magazine in the Magazines-Sheetfed category.
“The craftsmanship and innovation demonstrated by our gold winners is an outstanding example of why print remains a vital communication medium,” said Jennifer Miller, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Sappi Fine Paper North America.
Gold winners of Sappi’s North American Printers of the Year will compete later this year against the winners from Africa, Europe and the Sappi Trading Region (Asia, Australia, Central America and South America) for the Sappi International Printers of the Year awards, regarded as the world’s most respected accolade in printed communications.

Getting bigger, faster, stronger.
We’ve added a bit more elbowroom to our Birmingham headquarters, specifically 650 square feet. Rather than filling it with actual elbows, however, this expansion is enabling us to pump up our technological services.
Thanks to this $1.2 million expansion, expect even more from our mailing department, especially if your project requires the use of inkjet machines with inline gluing. With five new models, we’re ready to roll when you are. One client who already put us to the test is the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, who asked us to print and deliver a brochure to everyone — yes, gasp, every single U.S. address – in the country. (We passed with flying colors.) Next door in pre-press, we’ve cranked those capabilities up even higher, making us one of the best equipped pre-press departments around, ready to make your work even more vibrant and amazing. Thanks to you for making these expansions possible and count on us to keep upping our game. |
